Ducks get second chance to end series with Wild

Hockey Betting Lines

04/19/2007 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Anaheim Ducks will get another shot at advancing in the postseason tonight, when they welcome the Minnesota Wild to the Honda Center for Game 5 of the best-of-seven Western Conference quarterfinals.

The second-seeded Ducks had a chance to complete a four-game sweep in Minnesota on Tuesday, but the Wild notched a 4-1 victory to slice Anaheim's series lead to three games to one.

Brian Rolston posted a goal and an assist and Niklas Backstrom made 28 saves as Minnesota staved off elimination with a 4-1 win over Anaheim at Xcel Energy Center.

Pavol Demitra had two assists for the Wild, which won their first postseason contest since May 8, 2003 against Vancouver. In 2003, Minnesota beat both Colorado and Vancouver after trailing in the series 3-1, but was then swept out of the playoffs in the conference finals against Anaheim.

Also on Tuesday, Pierre-Marc Bouchard picked up his first career playoff goal, while Marian Gaborik and Mark Parrish also tallied for the seventh-seeded Wild.

Chris Pronger had the lone goal on Tuesday for the Ducks, which had their seven-game playoff win streak over Minnesota snapped.

Ilya Bryzgalov gave up four goals on 36 shots in the start, and Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped all four shots he faced in just over nine minutes of action in the third period.

Giguere's relief appearance was his first time in net since March 31. The Ducks No. 1 goaltender had missed the last two games of the regular season while tending to medical issues surrounding his newborn son. Giguere, who played in 56 games this season for Anaheim, was also available as a backup in the first three tests of this series. He may get his first start in the set tonight.

An incident in the last game of this series will result in two players missing this evening's matchup. Anaheim forward Brad May received a three-game suspension from the league for decking Wild defenseman Kim Johnsson with a punch with less than two minutes remaining in Game 4. May drew a match penalty for intent-to-injure and a game misconduct for his actions. Johnsson will not play in tonight's game, as he remained in Minnesota to undergo tests.

Game 4 was the first meeting between the Ducks and Wild this year, including four matchups in the regular season, that was decided by more than one goal. Anaheim went 2-1-1 in the series during the regular season.

The Ducks went 26-6-9 as the host this season and with the 2-0 mark at home in this set, Anaheim has taken 10 if its last 13 tilts at the Honda Center.

Minnesota struggled to a 19-19-3 mark on the road during the regular season.

If the Wild are able to escape elimination again tonight, the series will return to St. Paul for Saturday's Game 6.

NFL Football Betting : Odds on NFL Division to Win the Super Bowl

NFL Super Bowl Betting

The AFC South and the NFC East are the favorite divisions to have the next Super Bowl champ among them in the NFL betting odds. But more down to the point, these football odds are in favor of the Indianapolis Colts, by far the strongest team in the AFC South, and the Dallas Cowboys of the NFC East.

Most sports fans would agree that these two teams top the list to win it all before the season even begins. In the BetUS Sportsbook football futures, the Colts are +800 in the odds to win the Super Bowl, while the Cowboys are sitting at +1000 and the Super Bowl XLIV champions New Orleans Saints at +900. In the AFC South, the Colts won the division for five straight years after the 2002 realignment, before the Tennessee Titans won it in 2008. But the Colts came back strong in 2009 to win the division again en route to the Super Bowl. The Cowboys are the favorite to win the NFC East, as well as to advance far into the post season. The Cowboys won the division last season before their horrendous loss in the NFC Divisional playoff to Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. But the ‘Boys will take that loss humbly and be ready for the playoffs this time around.

The NFC South is also very strong, at +600 in the NFL futures, considering that it is home to the defending Super Bowl champions. However, some predictions have the Atlanta Falcons with possibilities of claiming the divisional title this season in place of the Saints, as no team has won back-to-back division championships since the division realignment took place. Let’s not overlook the AFC North at +500. As TO goes to Cincinnati to join Chad OchoCinco and Adam “Pac-Man” Jones, this team looks to claim the division title again. And it is likely they will do so. The Bengals lost in the AFC Wild Card spot in a hard-fought battle against the New York Jets last season. Lest not forget the Pittsburgh Steelers, the XLII Super Bowl Champions… All these teams present interesting odds and matchups for the upcoming season, but the safest and surest bet seems to be with the Colts in the AFC South and the Cowboys in the NFC East.
