Hendrickson makes first start of season for LA at Coors Field

(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Towering left-hander Mark Hendrickson makes his initial
start of the season today when the Los Angeles Dodgers visit Coors Field for
the finale of a two-game set with the Colorado Rockies.
Hendrickson, who stands 6-foot-9, will replace would-be Dodgers ace Jason
Schmidt, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list as of April 17 with right
bursa sac inflammation.
A former 20th-round draft pick of the Toronto Blue Jays, Hendrickson was a
combined 6-15 last season while splitting time with the Dodgers and the Tampa
Bay Devil Rays. He was 5-15 as a starter before heading to the bullpen in
September.
In three relief appearances this season, he's allowed four hits and two runs
in 11 innings of work. He's faced Colorado three times in relief in his
career, going 1-0 while allowing two hits and an unearned run in six innings.
The Rockies will start right-hander Aaron Cook, who's been involved in three
no-decisions this season while surrendering 22 hits and nine runs in 21
innings.
Cook was 9-15 for Colorado last season in 33 starts with a 4.23 earned run
average.
Lifetime against the Dodgers, he is 3-4 in 14 games - nine starts - with a
4.76 ERA.
On Wednesday, Matt Holliday went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored as
Colorado downed Los Angeles, 7-2. Brad Hawpe had a pair of hits, including a
double, two walks, and two runs scored for the Rockies.
Steve Finley and Garrett Atkins collected two hits each, while Yorvit
Torrealba and Troy Tulowitzki had two RBI apiece.
Taylor Buchholz (1-0) got the win by yielding only four hits and one run over
two innings. Starter Rodrigo Lopez gave up four hits and one run in four full
innings before leaving with tightness in his throwing elbow.
Juan Pierre went 2-for-4 for the Dodgers. Brady Clark and Andre Ethier scored
the lone runs for LA.
Derek Lowe (2-2) took the loss after giving up eight hits and five runs --
four earned -- walking three and fanning two in 4 2/3 innings.
The Dodgers took two of three from the Rockies from April 9-11 and have won 17
of the last 23 matchups. LA has also had success at Coors, where they were 7-2
last season.
